Hasselblad announces a 400-megapixel H6D-400c camera for medium format recording
Hasselblad has introduced a 400-megapixel medium-format camera capable of capturing 2.4 GB images. The H6D-400C MS features sensor-shift and multi-shot capabilities. As you might expect, the medium format camera is not cheap, as you will spend $ 47,995 (about Rs.30.64,200) for it. Pre-orders for the Hasselblad H6D-400c camera started on January 16 and will be available in March of this year. The H6D-400C was announced as an addition to the company's H6D medium format camera series. The H6D-400C system has a 100-megapixel CMOS sensor with dimensions of 53.4 x 40 mm. To achieve the full resolution of 400 megapixels, the H6D-400c camera relies on Hasselblad's multi-shot technology. In a multi-shot mode, 6 pictures can be taken. In the first four cases, the sensor is moved pixel by pixel to obtain true color data. After that, the sensor returns to the beginning. Then, the sensor is shifted horizontally by half a pixel and vertically by half a pixel to obtain two more exposures. All 6 images are then stitched together by the camera to produce a 400-megapixel image. The merged image forms a 2.4 GB 16 bit TIFF file with 23,200 × 17,400 pixels. The company claims that the image has "an amazing level of detail without more".
