Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro First impressions

Redmi Note 6 Pro is the latest smartphone from Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi to be launched in the Indian market. It is the successor of the Redmi Note 5 Pro, which was popular with the Sub-Rs. 15,000 segments in the country since the launch nine months ago. Xiaomi is now competitive with new models such as the Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1, Nokia 6.1 Plus, Motorola One Power and Honor 8X for the same price. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro will defend itself against these competitors. It shares many of its interior and design features with the Redmi Note 5 Pro but also features a new 6.26-inch 19: 9 Full-HD display with a notch. The smartphone will be presented at an event in New Delhi on November 22, at theThe prices will be announced. The Redmi Note 6 Pro price in India is likely to be close to that of the Redmi Note 5 Pro, which started at Rs. 14,999 and rose to Rs. 16,999 - through the phone (and two other Xiaomi deals) got Rs. 1,000 cheaper on Friday. However, given the recent price increase on other Redmi models, the Redmi Note 6 Pro could also be slightly higher. We spent some time with the Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro before the launch, and here are our first impressions.

The display of the Redmi Note 6 Pro is slightly larger in size than its predecessor and has a notch. It has a resolution of 1080 × 2280 and a maximum brightness of 500 nits. In our short time with this phone, the display seemed to have a good viewing angle with accurate colors and contrasts. At maximum brightness, however, we noticed a slight background light at the top. The rounded 2.5D edges help the display glass to easily hit the phone's frame.Apart from a few cosmetic changes, the Redmi Note 6 Pro is very similar to the Redmi Note 5 Pro. The new model is 0.21 mm thicker and slightly wider, but feels just as in the hand as the Redmi Note 5 Pro. On the front, the phone contains no hardware or capacitive navigation buttons. Users can choose between screen buttons or MIUI gestures instead. On the back is a well-known double camera. There is also a small physical fingerprint sensor on the back. When we tried it, there seemed to be a slight delay in unlocking the phone, but we will continue testing it during our review process. The Redmi Note 6 Pro features a lock / on / off switch and a volume control on the right side, as well as a hybrid dual SIM tray on the left side. This compartment can hold either two Nano-SIMs or one Nano-SIM and one microSD card simultaneously. The memory can be extended up to 256 GB. At the bottom, there is (still) a Micro-USB port, on the right the external speaker and on the left a faux-speaker grill to ensure the symmetry. The 3.5mm headphone jack, microphone, and IR transmitter are all on top of the smartphone.Although it has an IP rating for dust and water resistance, the Redmi Note 6 Pro features a water-repellent P2i coating that provides basic protection against splashes and rain. The rear cameras are slightly improved. Although there is still a primary auto-focus sensor with 12 megapixels and a secondary depth sensor with 5 megapixels. The primary sensor has a wider aperture of 1: 1.9 compared to last year's model, theoretically allowing more light to be captured for clearer images. Daylight shots were crisp in our limited time with the Redmi Note 6 Pro. We were not able to test the low-light photography, but you can confine yourself to the upcoming final report, which gives you all the details on the camera's performance.

One of the most important new features of this generation is the dual-selfie camera setup. On the front, there is a 20-megapixel primary sensor and a 2-megapixel depth sensor for portraits. Photos captured in good lighting were clear and the bokeh effect was accurate.
The Redmi Note 6 Pro, like its predecessor, has a full-metal back with a smooth, matte finish, making it slightly slippery. The big body is also a bit hard to hold. Xiaomi will help you with an included TPU case for a better grip. With a weight of 182 g, the Redmi Note 6 Pro is firmly in the hand and is only about 1 g heavier than the Redmi Note 5 Pro.
Basically, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro uses the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 as its predecessor. We would have liked a slightly more powerful processor, such as the Snapdragon 660, which the Chinese phone manufacturer uses in its Mi A2 smartphone. Xiaomi could have even opted for the MediaTek Helio P60 SoC now that Redmi smartphones with MediaTek processors are coming to India. However, we have to wait until we have completely reviewed the Redmi Note 6 Pro to see if it's still good enough and if Xiaomi has made further improvements to improve the user experience.
In India, there will be two variants of the Redmi Note 6 Pro - one with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of memory and the other with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of memory. The performance went smoothly and we had no time delay on the 6 GB RAM variant. In our detailed review, performance benchmarks, a comprehensive use in the field and much more are described.

Software Redmi Note 6 Pro

The Redmi Note 6 Pro supports MIUI 10 in addition to Android 8.1 Oreo, with no official deadlines for an Android 9.0 Pie update to be announced. As with the earlier MIUI-based Xiaomi smartphones, it also has a ton of customization, proprietary apps and additional features. For starters, there is a security app with features like RAM cleaner, security scanner, battery manager, data usage overview and more.
Pre-installed apps on the phone include Amazon Shopping, Facebook, PhonePe, Netflix, NewsPoint, Daily Hunt, Opera News, Opera Mini, and BHIM ABPB. This phone also receives the ShareChat app from an Indian company supported by Xiaomi.
The AI face unlock function felt smooth on the Redmi Note 6 Pro. Registering a face was super fast, as well as unlocking the handset. It's not quite as accurate as unlocking 3D faces because the phone can be unlocked even if you do not see it. We will test this feature extensively in our next test.
The Redmi Note 6 Pro has the same capacity of 4,000 mAh as its predecessor and supports the same charging level of 10 W. There is a power saving mode that can be adjusted to prevent the activity of apps that could discharge the battery in the background.
